The Sound Of Music Cake
I made this cake for a young girl who is starring in an production of the sound of music, She is playing Brigitta.
I took around a month on this cake making all the figures.
I made Maria first by making her head on a stick, then her legs with skewers uper through her legs with enough room for the stick to go into the cake and also into her torso. The torso was made then i made one arm on a stick pushed it trough her shoulders then made the second arm. i stuck her together and made her Skirt, to do this i cut a large circle and put it over and apple to set then attached it to her once dry.
The background was painted using blossom tints then washed over with a bit of water.
The children only had a stick going from their head and through the body and into the cake. The children were based on descriptions of the cast.
i think this is the best cake i have made so far.

My Hardest Cake
The hardest cake ive ever made was for the Lancashire and Chesire North West including the Island Of Man Budgerigar Club. It was for their 75 year Anniversary and my parents being in the club and organising the anniversary show i offered to make this cake.
The cake is the combination of 3 very large plain sponge cakes cooked in disposable tins bought from Pound World. you can see part of the joining line through the cake but this was because it was so huge. The lettering was embossed onto the cake then i piped on the icing on top, this allowed me to ensure the lettering spaces were correct. The budgerigar was hand painted using food colouring powder and then black liquid colouring-this was rather tricky! It went down well and all those who had some enjoyed it and i did enjoy making it :)
My 1st Cake
The first "proper" cake i made was for a neighbour who was 5. i made a princess castle.
The main square was plain sponge and the turrets were store bought swisrolls. I used ice cream cones for the top of the turrets and stuck a flag in the top. the top of the wall was made using marshmellows in matching pink. I used jelly tots for the main details and added a princess doll to the top aswell. The was made around 2009.

Cakes
I make alsorts of different cakes.
I am not trained and i have never had any classes.
Two things remain the same; 1-all my cakes are dairy free and 2-i make all my own cakes and will NOT try and rip somebody elses work and try an pass it off as my own.
This is a hobby and will remain this, i do cakes for family members and a few friends!
The cake above was my most recent cake, it is my own 21st cake. Inside there is 4 layers 2 are purple and 2 are plain. I used starwberry jam an buttercream to secure the layers together. The rose is almost all edible except the stem and is made from sugar paste mixed with red fondant icing. The mask is just sugarpaste. The 21 was bought from my local cake store. I made matching cupcakes for the guest to my party which went down well. The cupcakes i played around with and made them stripey inside also.
More cakes to follow! my next cake lined up is with a Sound of Music theme ive already made maria!
